Collective on HOLD

There hasn't been a post here for ages, sorry about that, been busy and stuff...

Anyways, the collective will be going on hold for the time being,

we had a few submissions which are really worth watching, and I've got them all logged and safe for when this idea gets back on the go, in the meantime there will be a DVD or two coming out from the UK to look forward to,

anyone who would like to submit any more footage for this can contact me at garthwembury@hotmail.com and I'll let you know what's happening.

Cheers for now.

Day in the Life of the South Coast

Well there was plenty of options for South coasters on Saturday, myself, James Diffey and Ben Poole hit a reef with the water shooting duties being shared amongst us and Bens brother Jason shooting from the land too, so there's a few waves to add to the bin.

Also looks like there were waves from all along the coast, so If anyone has footage of, or a story about Saturday the 22nd of Jan It would be cool to do a sort of "Day in the life of the South Coast" from a spongers point of view, I know that a little bit of footage was shot in Dorset, we've got some good stuff from Devon,

was there any waves in Brighton?

Did anyone film in Cornwall?

Update

There's a few frames from last weekend up on the RSK site here: rskonline.co.uk/action.html
As you'll see it's from Cornwall, some Leven and some Porthtowan stuff, should fit in nicely with the other kernow footage we have.

I'm debating whether to do a South Kernow Vs North Kernow section, or just put it all in together, any suggestions much appreciated.

Other recent developments include the possibility of doing a company profile thing with Undaground clothing (undagroundbodyboarding.com), which would be cool, maybe cover their next photo-shoot day from a couple of angles and do a little bio of the company and riders,

If anyone else is interested in telling the story of their company/scene leave a comment or e-mail me at: garthwembury@hotmail.com

It could be a nice feature.

More updates soon I hope as tomorrow and the weekend look promising for a few places.

So there's 20 to be going on with, but this post will be updated, and the identities will be put here and in the riders post too.

As you can see A few people have been partially or wholly identified by Chris Levi, I've coloured their details orange so you can tell at a glance who's now known.

The permanent links to the posts can be found directly beneath them, there's a "#" symbol which links to the post, and also in the "Previous" section of the sidebar on the left.

Are You on The Collective?

This post will have a list of all the riders that are going to be on the DVD, that I know, it'll be updated as new footage is accumulated, and I'll put up an "Unkown" gallery soon, so people I don't know can be identified.

I'll do it in alphabetical order based on surname, if I don't know someones name I'll just use what I know, apologies for spelling and other mistakes, feel free to correct me if you notice one.

here goes:

  1. Alex Allen
  2. Matt Allen
  3. Steve Brown
  4. Ali Daniels
  5. Sean Daniels
  6. James Diffey
  7. Aaron Dinham
  8. Damien Dinham
  9. Paul Eddistone (spelling?)
  10. Evans
  11. Chris Fletcher
  12. Dan Goddard
  13. Matt Hawken
  14. George Heron
  15. Hilly (Cornwall)
  16. Mitch Holmes
  17. Phil Houghton
  18. Keith (W Wales)
  19. Chris Levi
  20. Laurie McCall
  21. Chris Milford
  22. Ben Pascoe
  23. Sam Perry
  24. Ryan Phelps
  25. Ben Poole
  26. James Preselo
  27. Damien Prisk
  28. Matthew Pritchard
  29. Ryan Sheppard
  30. Mark Side
  31. Lewi Skinner
  32. James Sutton
  33. Rich Tebbs
  34. Stu Thomas
  35. Tim (Portreath)
  36. Danny Wall
  37. Franky Whitwell

So look out for the unkowns gallery soon, I've probably forgotten some, so check back or give me a hint as a comment.

Suggest some music

About time for another post, Merry Christmas everyone,

I'd have liked to say I was too busy surfing, but I haven't, dealing with knackered cars and christmas meals etc. instead.

Managed to get one decent surf in over the christmas period though, evidence of which is on the rsk site here: http://rskonline.co.uk/action.html

We got a few waves from two angles, so I'm thinking of doing this session as a one-off short section, maybe with some electro sounds.

Talking of sounds, any recomendations for music for the collective?

currently I've got these artists picked out:

Michael Jackson
Annie Lennox
Max Tundra
Beastie Boys (a mash-up mix of intergalactic)
Wizo
The Ramones
Mount Sims
Frank Black
Basement Jaxx

and possibly:

Panic! at the disco
Gravy Train
Stevie Wonder

so any suggestions along those lines, or completely different?

Pocket DVD idea

I hope someone reads this some time, I'm going to post links to it on a few message boards soon. I'd like peoples views on this idea:

I made a version of RSK (called RSK Turbo*), which I could
carry around with me wherever I went, in my Wallet. Here it is:

It's an 8cm DVD-R that you use in those crap DVD video cameras, the capacity is 1.46GB, compared to a standard DVD-R's 4.7GB, so I had to take off the extra features like 2nd audio and commentary tracks and the slide shows, but it's got the whole video on there, with fully functional menu's.

So the question is... who'd buy a pocket version of "The Collective", or any other sponge vid?

just think, you're at a party and you're chatting to some female:

You: "yeah, I bodyboard"

Her: "OH, I've done that! it's fun, do you think you'll ever do real surfing?"

You: "Have a look at this DVD"

Her: "wow, that's loads better than stand-up, you're cool"

You: "shyu, wanna hit it?"

Could also use a light-weight plastic clam-shell type holder/protector for it and make it a key-ring or something. Sell them for about 1/2 the normal price, or as part of a special package.

Anyone who wants a custom mini-DVD of RSK or their fave vid get in touch, reasonable price: garthwembury@hotmail.com

and leave a comment about this, good idea? or lame?

* little known fact: the only other reference to this is on George Herons Bodyboarder.com page.
